Analog Art

A couple weeks ago I was up in my attic putting up the Christmas decorations and I stumbled on and old box of cassettes. I don't why I still had these but I understand now how my parents felt about their vinyls. I pulled the box down and looked through them. There was stuff I hadn't listened to in years and some I had replaced with CD. My wife kept urging me to throw them away, I mean we didn't even own a cassette player. I would respond with "Do you know how much a tape was back in the day?" I had put a lot of work and sweat mowing lawns to be able to get that Bon Jovi Slippery When Wet album, come on!

Needless to say I had to get rid of them. I then stumbled on a brilliant idea someone had of preserving this memorable medium. I realized I may not have a cassette player anymore but I did have a canvas. Check out these awesome portraits made from old film and tape reels from artist Erika Iris Simmons. Then I thought I have a closest full of CDs that will soon mostly like be made into art. On top of that what kind of art can be done with old MP3 players once this whole digital fad dies out. Hmmm...
